Heath Askew played football, basketball, and baseball in high school. He accepted a scholarship to play baseball at Connors State College after graduating high school. After playing 2 years at Connors State and going 13-1 with 6 saves there he accepted a scholarship at Oklahoma State University. He was able to play in the last year of the Big Eight Conference and the first year of the Big 12. His team won the last Big Eight Championship as well as making the 1996 College World Series. Heath was drafted in the 1994 MLB draft by the Florida Marlins.
After his playing career, he became the Head Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Coffeyville Community College.
He received his Associates of Arts from Connors State College. Coach Askew finished his degree at Oklahoma State University. He has a degree in Elementary Education with an Emphasis in Mathematics. He is a member of the Texas High School Coaches Association and the Texas High School Baseball Association.
